Today was a rest day in Namche allowing us to get acclimatised for the elevation gain ahead, after breakfast we hiked up to the Everest View Hotel at 3,880 and were not disappointed by the weather blocking our view and were able to get our first glimpses of Lhotse and Everest and the challenge ahead.
An early start to day 3 and pick up from the hotel at 4.45am as we head off to the airport for our Yeti Airlines flight to Lukla with its unforgiving runway running into the mountain at one end and down a ramp and straight off the mountain at the other, no room for errors on this landing!
A fairly poor nights sleep as my body adjusts to the time zone and my brain starts to process all the information needed for the next 60 days and after breakfast in the hotel it's a day of mostly admin and grabbing any last minute things from the shops.
So my trip finally gets underway after months and months of waiting, delays, cancellations and changes I finally got myself to Manchester Airport, armed with endless forms, test results and declarations ready for the inevitable questioning to leave the UK, would my trip end before it started if my forms weren't acceptable? Slightly panicking, like I'd just committed some sort of criminal act I checked in and headed through security and on my way to Kathmandu via Doha.
